A book about where you’re from (City, State, Country – your choice).
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
I grew up in Maine and moved to Boston after graduating college, which is exactly like the main character in this book! I went into this book expecting a cute love story, but I was really thrown for a loop (in a good way). This book deserves a major content warning, but at the risk of giving away spoilers, I’ll just mention that you should go into It Ends With Us only if you are in a positive head-space. It’s much darker than you might initially think.
A book about your favorite non-bookish hobby.
The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
I don’t know if this counts, but my favorite thing to do is travel, especially to tropical locations! The Unhoneymooners is about two enemies-turned-friends-turned-lovers who circumstantially end up on a fully-paid honeymoon trip to Maui. It’s cute and funny and perfect for the summer months!
A book about a fear of yours.
Bird Box by Josh Malerman
We’ve all had moments throughout our lives when we’ve been afraid of the dark, but deep down we know our fear has less to do with the darkness and more to do with the things that could be in the dark. This book preys on the fear of the unknown, and it’s by far the most chilling book I’ve ever read. If you’ve seen the Netflix movie and were even remotely scared, the book will absolutely terrify you.
A book about something that brings you joy.
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
I always appreciate mental health representation in books. The portrayal of an autistic main character involved in an adorable, heart-warming romance genuinely brought a smile to my face.
A book about your career/what you’re studying in school.
Hotshot Doc by R.S. Grey
This was a tough one because I work in a hospital and haven’t read many books that relate to my job or what I studied in school… so here’s a smutty hospital romance involving a mean surgeon and his stubborn surgical assistant.
What job would you be terrible doing?
Anything that involves speaking in front of large groups of people! I’m terrified of public speaking, to the point where I start shaking and feel like I might pass out whenever I’m forced to do it.
What’s a subject you wish you knew more about?
I’ve always been really fascinated by astronomy. I would love to know more about planets and outer space, as nerdy as that sounds!
In your opinion, what is the best day on the calendar and why?
My birthday, of course!
Just kidding. I’ve always loved Halloween! A close runner-up would have to be the first day of spring. Even though Boston is still cold in March, it means the end of winter. That in itself deserves celebration!
What is the craziest item you spent way too much on?
I have no control when it comes to eating out. I love food and one of my favorite things to do in a new city is try the local food. I usually just go full out and get whatever I want, but I never regret it!
What’s a quirky thing you do?
I forget where I put things all the time, it’s so embarrassing! Like, I’ll have my phone in my hand and then two seconds later I’ll have no idea where it is and spend fifteen minutes searching.
